Forms and fees
We encourage all new applications to be submitted electronically via email, rather than in hard copy form. If possible, payment should be made by credit card, due to a possible delay in processing payments by cheque or money order.
Below you can find the form and current fee for your appeal, dispute referral, application or fast track request. All fees are prescribed under regs 272 and 273 of the Building Regulations 2018 (Regulations). Please note there is no power or discretion to reduce or waive any of the fees prescribed under the Regulations. All fees received by or on behalf of the Building Appeals Board (Board) are required to be paid into the building account of the Victorian Building Authority (VBA) fund pursuant to s 205A of the Building Act 1993 (Act), which is established pursuant to s 205 of the Act. The VBA may refund fees paid from the building account of the VBA fund in whole or in part if the appeal, dispute referral, application or fast track request does not proceed (reg 274(1) of the Regulations). All requests for a refund of fees paid must be submitted in writing to the registry email. The Board must refund from the building account of the VBA fund any fee paid for a request to fast track an appeal if the request is refused.

Authority to act
In accordance with s 248 of the Building Act 1993, it is an offence for a person to act on behalf of an owner of a building or land in relation to an application made to the Building Appeals Board without written authorisation
